Firearms training and shooting activities can leave lead and other contaminants on hands, clothing, duty gear, firearms, equipment, vehicles, and work surfaces. Without recognizing how contamination moves, personnel can unintentionally carry it beyond the range and into the workplace, patrol vehicle, or home. This course helps law enforcement and public-safety professionals recognize potential lead exposure and understand how cross-contamination occurs during and after firearms-related activities. Through practical scenarios and real-world examples, students will learn strategies for personal hygiene, handling equipment and clothing, cleaning contaminated surfaces, reducing take-home exposure, and making better decisions about where potentially contaminated items go next. The goal is simple: reduce exposure by preventing contamination from traveling farther than it needs to.
